Famous Quotes

Happiness is it materialistic ?????

Yesterday my friend called up saying that she wanted to own a car. I asked her the reason as to why suddenly she’s taking such a decision; her answer was “she wanted to enjoy her life”. Since then I couldn’t stop pondering about how can i be happy in life. Is it material possession that gives you utmost satisfaction and happiness or going on a vacation to the Miami beach or spending money at lavish restaurants or is it attending a fashionable party. The secret remains unknown for years.

Democritus, (460-370 BC)

Happiness resides not in possessions and not in gold, the feeling of happiness dwells in the soul.

Aristotle

To live happily is an inward power of the soul.

I certainly wasn’t happy. Happiness has to do with reason, and only reason earns it. What I was given was the thing you can’t earn, and can’t keep, and often don’t even recognize at the time; I mean joy.

Anne Frank

Think of all the beauty thats still left in and around you and be happy!

Anon

Happiness is enhanced by others but does not depend upon others.

Aristotle

…happiness is the highest good, being a realization and perfect practice of virtue, which some can attain, while others have little or none of it…

Aristotle

Different men seek after happiness in different ways and by different means, and so make for themselves different modes of life and forms of government.

Unknown

Happiness is not having what you want. It is wanting what you have.

Helen Keller

When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us.

Well after bugging you with so many quotes from famous people, I’d like to say that definition of Happiness is subjective. Everyone has to find their own mantra for it…. Be it lavish spendings or buying a car or just trying to have a state of mind that sees happiness in everything…

I know what happiness means to me…. As nothing has brought happiness to me than me accepting things the way they are in my life and being content in what I have. Well I used to be a material girl, always shopping (which I still do), splurging on various cuisines (which I still do), Taking my car out for a drive. All these are just ways to find momentary happiness but not happiness itself.

You would have spent years to achieve your goal; the journey towards that particular goal wouldn’t have been a cake walk at all. You would have been through lots of hardships, would have suffered mentally as well as physically. And when you finally achieve your goal you cherish that moment as the happiest in your life and therefore assume that you’ll be happy forever thereafter. That’s what every one of us does. Little did we know happiness is not a destination but it’s the experience that we gain during the journey? Perhaps we would have never been happy in achieving our goals if it weren’t for the struggles that we had to go through while achieving them. So value each an every moment and put them in your treasure trove of happiness.

So I sign off saying “Happiness is what you are and how you perceive things, its all in the Perception”
